OW swimming in Norfolk

There's a new venue out east

Active Outdoor Sport Ltd is launching a new open-water swim centre at Fritton Lake Country Park in Norfolk.

Swimmers have complete flexibility for how they use their time – choosing between three marked swim courses they can use their own session or follow a session plan provided by the centre’s qualified coaches.

Founded in 2008, Active Outdoor Sport Ltd provides events and activities based around triathlon, open water swimming, cycling and trail running. These include sporting events such as the Fritton Lake Triathlon Festival, plus activity leisure breaks in the Norfolk Broads and Waveney Valley.

Fritton Lake is one of the most beautiful stretches of water in East Anglia, extending two and a quarter miles from end to end and covering 150 acres. The lake is considered the jewel in the crown of the historic Somerleyton Hall estate, which covers 5,000 acres.

There are coaches on hand both on and off the water to provide instruction on techniques and practices specific to open water. Non-wetsuit swimming is allowed as long as the water temperature is above 14oC.

All sessions are £5.00 payable on the day and for unlimited swimming throughout the summer, a season pass is available for a one off payment of £100.

Zone 3 wetsuits are available to buy at the centre, where the staff will help you with the sizing and let you try a sample suit in the water before you make your decision. Wetsuits are also available to hire for individual events.
