New British Off-Road Champs
Scotland to host new champs
The inaugural British Triathlon Federation (BTF) British Cross (Off-Road) Triathlon Championships will be hosted by the Durty Triathlon, and will be held on the lochside and hills above St. Mary’s Loch in the spectacular Scottish Borders on Saturday 31st July 2010.
Organised by the Scottish Borders Triathlon club, the inaugural Durty Triathlon in 2008 was the winner of the prestigious Triathlon Scotland ‘Event of the Year’ award. The event grew in 2009, with over 300 participants, making it one of the largest triathlons in Scotland.
The British Cross Championships, aka the ‘Long Hard Durty’, consists of a freshwater loch 1500m Swim, 30km challenging Mountain Bike and 10km Hilly Trail Run with a few obstacles thrown in for good measure.
There’s also a supporting race, the Short Fast Durty, which takes place over half these distances. We’re welcoming both Solo and Relay Teams (3 members) on both courses.
After the race, there will be a Hog Roast, Ceilidh, Disco, and on-site Camping – all as part of the race entry fee. Location for all this post-race activity is the same fantastic lochside which hosts the race itself.
The race has attracted prestigious sponsors, headlined by The Tri Centre. Other sponsors include Craft, Honey Stinger and Trek Bicycles. Support also comes from Event Scotland and Scottish Borders Council.
More details on the event are available at www.durtytriathlon.com, and online entry is via www.entrycentral.com.
