Ironman UK nearly full

Bolton long-distance event close to capacity, says organiser

The organiser of IRONMAN UK has announced that the race is almost full for this year, and that any athletes that wish to race but have not yet entered, should do so soon to ensure they don’t miss out.

IRONMAN UK has always attracted an outstanding field of athletes and the race on 22 July 2012 will see 1,500 competitors travelling to Bolton in Lancashire to take on the challenge, and fulfil their quest to become an ‘IRONMAN.’

They will start their day with 2.4 miles in Pennington Flash before cycling 112 miles through the beautiful Lancashire countryside, finishing the marathon in Bolton town centre. The event attracts 25,000 spectators who cheer from the side-lines across the day, and it is as much of an experience for the supporters as it is the athletes themselves.

Double Olympian, Rebecca Romero has also announced that she will be taking part in this year’s IRONMAN UK event. She said, “It’s the most iconic endurance event there is, and I don’t just want to do a triathlon, I want to be part of a great epic event.”
