Heron Lake Officially Opening Saturday 5 May

Heron Lake will not be open this weekend, but will instead open from Saturday 5 May

Heron Lake Open water swimmers have said that the lake will not be open this weekend, but instead will open for the season from Saturday 5 May. Their statement reads…

“Unfortunately well will not be opening on Saturday due to unfinished works on developing the site. All the work for the lake should have been completed by the opening date, but this has been put on hold while the rain continues…

“The lake will definitely open on Saturday May 5th for the season, which we hope will give you all the best surprise, with lots of new facilities and improved swimming environment.

“As the most established open water swimming venue in the South East, Heron Lake has been open for swimming for nearly 15 years, and this has only been possible with the great support from the thousands of swimmers that train at the lake each month during the summer

“It is one of only two lakes to provide full water cover, life guards and a marked out swim course – providing the safest environment to practise your swimming.

“With over 800 swimmers a week in the peak season, this is the place to improve your swimming and soak up the great atmosphere.”
