Aqua Sphere Manaus

A simple yet striking design from the swimwear behemoths Aqua Sphere. Although we were a little worried that it would be too small – as there didn’t seem to be much give getting it on, it fitted like a second skin; testing a 34 (a UK10), the sizing was spot on.

With the yellow flatlock-stitched stripes we had concerns about chafing but the second layer on the inside resulted in a rub-free swim. However, that same second layer – an “inner tummy lining with ‘soft stretch tulle’ to provide an extra comfortable support and a smooth appearance” – simply acted as an additional sponge in the water. And although not entirely evident while swimming, once out the suit felt noticeably heavier.

Its Aqua X Power material provides an element of compression and certainly added to its comfortable feel. We’re just not convinced that it needed that much fabric.
