TYR Mirrored Swim Shades review

They look the business, but can they also provide the comfort and performance our tester expects?

TYR Mirrored Swim Shades review

If you like being the talk of the pool, TYR’s Swim Shades certainly look the business. But despite a simple adjustment system, we filled up with water not long after pushing off the wall.

>>> Best open-water goggles review 2015

Passing them round our local swimming club for a quick consensus, only one out of six managed to get further than 50m without experiencing major leakage.

It’s evident that, because the solid plastic won’t mould like other flexible goggles, they only fit swimmers whose face is the same wide shape. If they do happen to fit, they provide an excellent range of vision and don’t fog up.

In effect, you’re taking a near 20-quid punt on these with, in our experience, a 15-20% chance of them actually fitting. You could argue they’re worth it just for the visual factor and that anything else is a bonus, so if this is your thinking then by all means go for it.

Verdict: They could be great, if not for some serious leakage issues, 64%
