“The Vector brings THEMAGIC5 customization to a whole new level.” The brand loved by Ironman World Champ Jan Frodeno launch new swim goggles

When it comes to pulling on your goggles for race day, THEMAGIC5 have long been a favourite of 220’s gear testers – and champion athletes including Ironman triathlete Jan Frodeno agree.

So when the brand announced that they had taken 10 years’ of experience in providing athletes with custom-made bespoke goggles to launch a new model we were keen to find out more.

The new model is called the Vector and is described as a next-generation goggle, designed to eliminate the long-standing trade-off between comfort and leak prevention so it feels like there’s almost nothing there at all.

If you haven’t come across THEMAGIC5 before though, then check out our review of the existing model here which will tell you more about how the process works.

The new Vector goggles from THEMAGIC5 build on their years of data.

For swimmers, leaks most often occur at the top of the gasket as water flows down the face. Traditional goggles attempt to solve this by increasing pressure across the entire face, often leading to discomfort, red marks, and distraction.

To solve the problem, THEMAGIC5 collected and analyzed millions of facial data points, mapping facial curvature at the millimeter level. Using this data, Vector’s geometry was reengineered, including a redesigned nose bridge and a 8.7-degree rotation of the gaskets, reducing strap-induced tension and expanding the effective fit range.

By shifting responsibility for the lower seal to the nose bridge, Vector applies pressure only where leaks actually occur—at the top of the gasket—rather than across the entire face. These changes drove a 15% reduction in pressure on the face compared to the previous generation.

Custom-made fit

Because every Vector gasket is precision-cut from individual facial data, this targeted pressure approach delivers a stronger seal with less overall pressure, creating a goggle that seals securely while virtually disappearing once it’s on.

According to Founder and CEO, Rasmus Barfred Our custom fitting technology has always delivered precision. By reshaping the frame geometry (especially around the nose) we’ve achieved a perfect fit but with less pressure and more security from leaks. The vision behind THEMAGIC5 was to make it feel like you’re not even wearing goggles, and this change means we’re even closer to that vision”.

THEMAGIC5 previously secured a $1 million investment on “Shark Tank” from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec, and has been creating custom-fitting goggles using groundbreaking face-scanning technology.

Each pair of Vector goggles is custom-made to fit the athlete, via a face-scanning app.

The custom goggles have been used by the world’s top Olympic medalists and world champions like American swimmers Matthew Grevers and Ivan Puskovitch, Polish swimmer Kasia Wasick, 3x Ironman World Champion and Olympic gold medalist triathlete Jan Frodeno, and Danish triathlete Daniel Bækkegård, Olympic gold medalist swimmer Michael Andrews, Olympic silver medalist triathlete Hayden Wilde, and many more.

“As a professional athlete I raced with custom kit like bike aero bars and a tailored speed suit, but until THEMAGIC5 it didn’t matter how good you were– everyone used the same stock goggle options. The Vector brings THEMAGIC5 customization to a whole new level,” said Jan Frodeno of the new launch.

So how does it work? THEMAGIC5 allows any swimmer to download the app, scan their face at home and submit. That’s where the magic starts. The company’s AI then maps your face and robots cut the gaskets to fit your unique profile. Your custom Vector goggles are then shipped directly to you.

Having tested previous models and been impressed, we’re excited to try the new Vector and will be publishing a full review and adding them to our goggles group test as soon as they’ve arrived and we’ve had time to try them out.

The Vector is on sale now in a range of colours and tints at the link below. Prices start at £65 and each pair is made-to-measure complete with a hard case.
