Adidas Adizero Adios Boost run shoes review

In 2013 Adidas launched their new Boost range with a bold aim – to be the shoe with the “highest energy return in the industry”, replacing the industry-standard EVA with blown-up thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU, which looks and feels like rubberised polystyrene).

Is this all just marketing hype? Simply put, no – this is a brilliant run shoe. Those 2,000 TPU ‘energy capsules’ provide a springy stride, but not at the expense of feel or weight (249g). Over various distances/speeds they performed superbly and felt damn fast.

Comfort is impressive and breathability’s great due to the mesh upper (although one negative is it began to fray early in the test). Traction is good too, thanks to the tyre manufacturer Continental-constructed outsole.
