Odlo Active Spine Base layer comes with posture tech designed to improve your run. Matt Baird puts it to the test

Alongside Now 9 (Mental as Anything, anyone?), “Shoulders back, Matthew!” was the sound of our childhood, with our long-suffering mother forever giving us posture pointers. And, given a swim coach recently bemoaned our hunchback, she had a point.

Step forward the Odlo Active Spine, which boasts the Scandi brand’s Spine Technology, which involves a body-mapped compression zone that supports the spine and pulls the shoulders back to improve posture, reduce slouching and thus improve oxygen intake. And it genuinely works as we felt 10 foot tall (well, 5ft 7in) in this on the run. There’s also added base-layer warmth and breathability from the polyester and elastane mix, while the seamless construction is smooth on the skin.

Verdict: A neat update on the classic base layer and with classy construction 88%
