Craft Active Extreme base layer

Superb performance, as you'd expect from a supplier to Sweden's Air Force

Having started life as the underwear supplier for the Swedish Air Force, Craft have grown into a real force in skiing, running and cycling. The crew neck is 100% polyester, integrating what Craft term a ‘Hexa-channel fabric that pulls moisture from the skin’.

Thermolite material on the outside continues this channeling and adds insulation. We couldn’t test the science but it performed superbly, keeping us warm and transferring sweat well. But it’s quite thin so you’ll need a mid-layer between this and your jacket on winter morning rides.

It’s worth layering up, though, as this is very comfy indeed. Its stretchy composition works with you, and it’s long enough in the torso to meld with your bib longs and jacket to keep out chills. The only moot point is the six red circles on the left sleeve: one large stretch and they begin to crack, which cheapens the aesthetics.
