SiS REGO Rapid Recovery

A good-tasting, reasonably priced recovery drink that's also dairy-free

Described as “a full spectrum recovery product for periods of intense training”, SiS’s REGO Rapid Recovery drink was developed using feedback from cycling legend Chris Boardman.

It supplies an ideal 2:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein, combined with a generous sprinkling of added vitamins and minerals. Less desirable, though, is the addition of the artificial sweetener aspartame, which some prefer to avoid.

The carbohydrate consists of maltodextrin (supplying) glucose and fructose for rapid uptake into muscles. Unusually, the protein comes courtesy of soy protein isolate, rather than the more commonly used (and more rapidly absorbed) whey protein.

This, though, could be a definite bonus for those who are dairy-intolerant. Mixing with water as directed produces a smooth texture (albeit a little powdery) with a good chocolate-y flavour combined with nutty overtones.
