BBB Eagle

Helmets are a relatively recent addition to BBB’s product portfolio, but this cool-running 274g lid gets things off to a good start. It looks slightly basic from the outside, but it’s actually got a lot of quality features beneath its shell.

For a start the rear cradle uses exactly the same closure set-up as the £65 Spiuk but the finish is tidier. The 80% wraparound brow/side pad and spidery one-piece top pad fit comfortably and allow maximum airflow. Clip-lock Y-strap adjusters also make it easy to adjust under your ears.

The medium-sized vents are backed up with decent-depth internal channels right through the shell. Add enough exhaust emission to keep the wind flowing through and it cools with increasing effectiveness as you accelerate.

On the downside, the patches of exposed liner under the hardshell look a bit cheap and there’s no visor option. But the shell does extend under the rear of the lid for good drop/scuff protection. Decent lid, decent price.
