Walker Brothers Revolver Tub Disc Wheel review

The Revolver Disc, from Newcastle upon Tyne-based Walker Brothers seems like a bargain, but is it a false economy?

Compared to a Zipp Super 9 tubular you’ll save £800 and, at 1,130g, pay a meagre 135g weight penalty. It has the en vogue aero wide rim profile, measuring 27.2mm at its widest point and allowing you to run faster-rolling wider tyres.

Walker Brothers are currently waiting for some tunnel data but, as Brian and Harry were among the UK’s top time-triallists in the 1990s, they know a fast wheel. On the road, even in challenging autumnal conditions, there’s no doubting its speed.

The hub is smooth, pick-up is excellent and, even when muscling up a climb, it’s 100% flex-free. The real surprise though is the comfort of the ride. Many cheaper discs are harsh but, with a spoked wheel beneath its skin, it’s a long-course racer’s dream.

Verdict: Fast, affordable and comfy disc designed and built in the UK, 92%
