Suplest S3

With a definite retro feel to the simple black and white styling, Swiss brand Suplest’s S3 tr shoe certainly delivers in the looks department.

Fit was good and, in bare feet, a half size smaller than normal fitted perfectly with plenty of room in the toe box. All of the key tri-race-shoe-specific features are there including outside-in main straps, bumper pads on the heel and toe, oversized heel loop, drain holes on the sole, and a really soft and comfy inner.

The outside-in main strap wasn’t overly long and never caught on the crank arms – a common fault on many tri shoes. The all-carbon sole was super stiff and power transfer sublime.

It wraps high up the instep and didn’t cause any foot ache, but could be a problem over a long-course race. The punched ventilation holes are a bit crude, though did a decent job and will cope in all but the hottest conditions.
