Max Ionergized

Maxgear is a relatively new British brand that was formed in 2007 and specialises in cycling apparel and products. Their Ionergized long-sleeve compression top is sold as a cycling-specific garment to be worn during and after exercise.

It’s comfortable and, even though the benefits of compression on the upper body are debatable, it feels supportive and unrestrictive over the chest. Also, to satisfy the compression claims, the sleeves would benefit from higher pressure if you were to see improvement in muscle oscillation.

The long fabric specification also includes the use of charged negative ions, which is claimed helps the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the muscles. However, this has yet to be scientifically proven. A large mesh panel under the arms dumps excess heat, and the long cut allows you to cover any exposed skin. Combined with antibacterial coating, highly wickable fabrics and quality manufacture, this will serve well as a simple base layer with some value-added features.
