Ride like a pro with high-performance carbon wheels from Vision
High-performance wheels can make a huge difference to your aerodynamic efficiency and top-level performance. All too often it can feel like they’re exclusively reserved for professional athletes – but with the new range from Vision that’s no longer the case.
First up, a little background for those of you who may not have come across Vision before. They’re a brand firmly immersed in triathlon, with roots stretching back to its founding at the Ironman World Championship in Kona.
As you’d expect from a brand with tri origins, they have become known for pushing the limits of aerodynamic innovation. Vision has refined every component through meticulous wind tunnel testing and CFD simulations.
The new triathlon range, launched for Kona 2024 but equally relevant and refined into 2026, carries on this legacy, offering athletes unparalleled performance in speed, comfort, and efficiency.
Pro rider Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious) shared his thoughts about the wheels:
“Recent advances in wheel technology have given engineers far greater freedom in rim design, allowing the development of wider, more aerodynamic profiles that can also be lighter and more efficient. Compared to just a few years ago, modern wheels deliver a clear step forward in performance, with noticeable improvements in stiffness, responsiveness, and overall ride quality. Riders can feel the difference immediately in terms of rolling efficiency, control, and comfort.”
We’re going to highlight two wheels in this article that offer that sweet spot between performance and realistic price point, helping age-group athletes access the same benefits as the pro circuit.
1. The disc wheel
The Vision METRON TTW high performance rear disc wheel sets new standards for triathlon speed. Built on the foundation of the METRON 45, this lenticular disc with applied fairings and a 21mm rim width offers the best aerodynamic advantage for time trials. Its lighter weight ensures fast accelerations, while the sleek design reduces drag, helping athletes cut through the wind with ease.

Rigorous testing at the LSWT San Diego wind tunnel confirmed the METRON TTW’s aerodynamic efficiency. Compared to the previous model, the TTW reduced drag by 20%, making it the most efficient rear disc in Vision’s lineup. The disc’s lenticular profile and PRS hubs, with quick engagement, give athletes a dynamic edge, offering a smoother, faster ride even in high winds
The METRON TTW features Vision’s PRS hubs, offering a 5-degree engagement with 72 points of contact for immediate power transfer. This allows athletes to accelerate faster and maintain speed during critical race moments, making the TTW the ultimate choice for time trials. Its combination of aerodynamic efficiency and responsive handling ensures top-tier performance.
The new hubs from Vision additionally feature a small QR code which is linked to the SPM (spare parts manual) of each hub, making maintenance easier and faster. The QR code is accessible to anyone, so this solution is useful both for end customers and technicians.
The METRON TTW retails for $1953.00 / £1463.00 / €1679.00 and is available from the link below.
2. The SC 60 SL
Vision has been the solid and consistent wheel technical partner of multiple pro-teams (World Tour and Continental teams) for over 15 years. The brand has been always pushing the best technical set-up driven by performance only, assembling components (and wheels) without compromises in value / cost / price.
VISION’s “SC” (Service-Course) wheel range stands as a key product line-up: premium carbon wheels at an incredibly
competitive price point. The new SC 45 SL and SC 60 SL fully embrace this philosophy. An evolution of the previous SC models, now featuring a 23 mm internal rim width for improved compatibility with wider tires and enhanced stability, along with a brand-new P.R.S. hub with a 54-tooth ratchet system for faster, more efficient power transfer derived from the top-of-the-line Metron P.R.S. technology.

It is not only about the wheelset though: it starts with the VISION V-600 hub. Born from the top-tier V-1000 hub featured on the Metron RS wheels, the Vision V-600 carries the same engineering DNA in a more accessible package. While the V-1000 offers 72 engagement points, ceramic bearings, and a matte finish, the V-600 delivers 54 points of engagement, durable steel bearings, and a glossy look.
Both hubs share the same 5° engagement angle—the ideal balance for acceleration, drag, and mechanical strength. Designed to perfectly match the SC wheel range, the V-600 is essentially a refined adaptation of our flagship hub—an intermediate choice that bridges performance and value.
With this, the PRS (Ratchet System) technology is now available with both METRON and SC level (top and mid) which includes: Metron 45-60 RS, Metron 45-60 SL and SC 45-60 SL. This system (both in 54T and 72T) delivers a 24% improvement in engagement performance compared to a standard 3-pawl hubsystem

Depending on the YAW angle and tire size the SC 60 SL shows a 4% drop in drag compared to the SC55. This reduction in drag allows for the rider to use a larger tire without being aerodynamically penalized, as the SC 60 SL with a 28mm tire is as fast or faster than the SC55 with a 25mm tire.
Not only is the SC 60 SL faster than the SC55, but testing shows that the wider profile has increased the stability in crosswinds by 15%. This is done by moving the side force pressure further behind and below the hub, which in that position of the wheel acts like a rudder to stabilize the wheel no matter the conditions.
The SC 60 SL retails for $1399.00 / £1499.99 / €1749.00 from the link below.
