This year's Xterra England is already more than half full, according to organisers, who predict that entries to the championship race will sell out before the end of March.

Taking place at the Vachery Estate in Surrey on 23 August, it will again offer qualifying spots for the Xterra World Championship in Hawaii this October, as well as a €15k prize pot for the 14 fastest athletes on the day.

Among the off-road triathlons being held are a sprint race (750m swim/15km bike/5km run) and a women-only 'Try-an-Xtri' (400m/10km/3km), along with the full distance 1.5km/30km/10km championship race. The Big Swim races will also make a return.

Last year's Xterra England was won by Ben Allen (AUS) and Jacqui Slack (GBR), while local favourite Sam Gardner thrilled crowds by chasing down Belgium's Yeray Luxem in the last 200m of the race to claim silver in the men's race.
