Tail end of tri season run in Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire Sport is calling upon both locals and runners nationwide to take to the streets of Northampton on Saturday 4 October for The Run ‘09.

Northamptonshire Sport, supported by Northamptonshire Let Yourself Grow, is calling upon both locals and runners nationwide to take to the streets of Northampton on Saturday 4 October for The Run ‘09.

Local sporting heroes, Olympic gymnast, Daniel Keatings, and one of Britain’s greatest ever 400m athletes, Derek Redmond, are both backing the event that aims to encourage runners of all ages and standards to motivate themselves to become fitter, healthier or simply improve their performance. Daniel and Derek are both Ambassadors for Northamptonshire actively promoting the county.

The Run ‘09 features 5km and 10km courses plus a series of children’s events all on safe closed roads. All events start and finish at the Sixfields Stadium in Northampton and the running courses take in some of Northamptonshire’s most beautiful sites.

The Run ‘09 will afford participants the opportunity to make a real difference and support the event’s four partner charities; MacMillan Cancer Support, SCOPE, Northamptonshire Community Foundation and Northamptonshire Champions Fund.

All those interested in taking part in The Run ‘09 should visit www.the-run.org for further information and to register. Those taking part can also download route maps, training advice and programmes and keep up to date with all the latest health and fitness news.
