Spencer’s coming home

Triathlon legend Spencer Smith is going back to his roots next week, as he returns to the UK to take part in the UK National Relay Champs

One of the true legends of world-stage triathlon, Spencer Smith will be making a rare UK appearance on 22 August, when he joins Team Planet X to compete in the UK National Relay Championships.

“I finished 2nd at the Junior Nationals when I was 16 racing for Thames Turbo Tri Club”, Smith recalls. “I got the trophy home super-proud, then dropped it and it split in half. I also rode the whole bike leg with my helmet on the wrong way round! It will be a great to go back and lead the Planet X team; it feels like I am coming full circle.”

Also on the team will be the Planet X-sponsored Luke Dragstra, who recently finished in ninth place at Challenge Roth; Dann Brook (winner this year of the the Lisboa International Triathlon); and Richard Teare, a champion cyclist and currently in second place in the National Duathlon series.
