National Triathlon Champs review

Action from Emberton Park as Phil Holland and Esther Rodriguez take top honours

Phil Holland and Ester Rodriguez took top honours and were crowned English Champions at this weekend’s annual Triathlon England – National Triathlon Championships (19 August), which took place in Emberton Country Park in Buckinghamshire.

The fastest overall course time for the standard distance race was taken by Phil Holland at 1.55.01, closely followed by Harry Springhall who came in second place overall at 1.55.40 and Phil Mellings in third place overall at 1.56.00.

Ester Rodriguez finished as fastest overall winning female at 2.07.55, followed by Hannah Shooter at 2.10.46 and finishing as 3rd overall women was Parys Edwards completing the course at 2.10.59.

The race consisted of a standard distance format, which started with a wave start 1,500m open water swim in the lake at Emberton Country Park, a 40km bike which was a challenging but scenic lap around undulating country roads and then onto a 10km run course, three laps of Emberton Country Park.

Spots are still available to enter the Triathlon England – National Club Championships on 9 September, also at Emberton Park (visit www.triathlonengland.org).
