Loughborough Triathlon crowned English Club Champions

Tactical team of four triumphs in Nottingham

A four-person team from Loughborough has been named English Club Champions at this year’s Triathlon England – National Club Championships, held at Nottingham National Water Sports Centre recently.

Loughborough Triathlon took top place on the podium after collecting the best score from each individual member’s race result, having tactically put together a team with a range of age-groups to make sure they got the best points position.

This year’s race was a sprint distance format which started with a 500m open-water swim, a 15km bike and then onto a 5km run. Loughborough Triathlon completed the race with a combined time of 3:07:29.

In the men-only event, Huub Tfn took top place on the podium with a winning time of 3:02:29. Women’s team Cambridge Smash-It posted the winning women-only time of 3:16:20.

“It’s great to see how interest in the sport is continuing to grow,” said Jem Lawson, Chair of Triathlon England. “With event sell-outs, it shows these events are growing, and we hope that this in turn will encourage many more to get involved.”
