Lisa Norden to race Challenge Fuerteventura

Olympic silver-medalist to attempt first middle-distance event since 2005

Olympic silver medalist and current ITU World Triathlon Series champion, Lisa Norden today announced her start at Challenge Fuerteventura on 13 April in her first half distance race since 2005.

Nordén has chosen Playitas Resort on Fuerteventura as her winter training base for her training and she says she is looking forward to racing over the longer distance.

“I’m aiming to build a strong base through winter training at Playitas and look forward to a longer distance to challenge me at Challenge Fuerteventura. Challenge has a good reputation in the triathlon world and it will be a pleasure racing at Fuerteventura”, said Nordén. “Playitas offers great opportunities for me with the best possible training environment just outside the door when I wake up.”

Challenge Fuerteventura will find Europeans testing themselves on a tough course set against the dramatic volcanic backdrop of this spectacular island. After the swim in the Atlantic Ocean, the demanding bike leg is as much a battle of the elements as the terrain with the traditional hot strong winds. The half marathon finishes in the heart of Playitas Resort after a coastline run.
