Jonny B urges fans to support the team at Triathlon Live

With less than a week until the triathlon events at the Games, fans can show their support and get behind the six British triathletes at ‘Triathlon Live’ in eight locations across the UK.

The live hub’s will allow fans to ‘Give it a Tri’, and experience the next best way to compete in a triathlon event during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, Lucy Hall, Stuart Hayes, Helen Jenkins and Vicky Holland will be hoping for support from all corners of the UK, as they compete at the triathlon events on 4 and 7 August.

Jonathan Brownlee said: “We’re delighted to be representing Team GB at London 2012 and already can’t wait for August 7th. I know there will be plenty of support for all the athletes around Hyde Park, and people can also watch live at the Triathlon Live events. We’re proud to come from Yorkshire and hope the public across the UK come out in force to support us all at the Triathlon Live sites.”

‘Triathlon Live’ will appear in eight major UK cities during the triathlon events of the London 2012 Olympic Games from Saturday 4 August to Tuesday 7 August. Triathlon Live will feature ‘Give it a Tri’ spaces, offering community triathlon events and broadcasts of the sport on the giant screens at each of the following locations:

· Bristol – Millennium Square – August 4 – 7

· Cardiff – The Hayes – August 4 – 7

· Coventry – Millennium Place – August 4 – 7

· Edinburgh – Festival Square – August 4 – 7

· Leeds – Millennium Square – August 4 – 7

· Leicester – Humberstone Gate – August 4 – 7

· London Hyde Park – BT London Live – July 28 – August 12

· Manchester – Exchange Square – August 4 -7

Participants will be able to challenge themselves in a cutting edge pool and test their swimming abilities against a simulated current that is suitable to swimmers of all abilities. Next they’ll bike and run on the state of the art equipment and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes.

Triathlon Live is a joint initiative run by the International Triathlon Union, British Triathlon, and LOCOG. Each of the Home Nation Associations, Triathlon England, Welsh Triathlon and triathlonscotland deliver the Triathlon Live events in their local city.
