The four time Kona Queen Chrissie Wellington will be appearing in an ‘evening with’ event at the St Austell arts centre later this month, with tickets still available.
One of the most iconic names in triathlon, between 2007 and 2011 Wellington dominated the sport. She won the Ironman World Champs in Kona four times, only missing one year in her professional career through illness.
However she only turned pro aged 29 after success as an age-grouper led to a whole new career path.
Advocate for sport
Since retiring in 2012 Wellington has been a trailblazer and advocate for sport for all working closely with parkrun and successfully creating a women’s race at the Tour De France.
Chrissie was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2010 and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2016.
Hosting a legend
The evening is arranged by the Mad Hatters, a Cornish multisport event organisers. John Yelland from the Mad Hatters said: “We have already organised an evening with Louise Minchin which was very popular so this is the second in the series. We’re keen to bring more big names from sport down to Cornwall and to give athletes the chance to engage with them and be inspired by their stories. It’s a real honour to be hosting Chrissie!”
The talk will be held at St Austell Arts Theatre on 22nd May 2025. Visit the site here to find out more and buy tickets.
