Irish champion Rory Maguire signs up to Vachery

Irish Middle Distance Champion Rory Maguire looking to compete for honours

Former-Irish Middle Distance Champion, Rory Maguire, is the latest elite triathlete to declare their intention to race the Vachery Middle Distance Triathlon on 21st July in Cranleigh, Surrey. Maguire will be hoping to use his famous leg speed to take the title in what is becoming one of the biggest domestic races this year.

Maguire is joined on the startline by pre-race favourites Joe Skipper (5th at Challenge Barcelona), Sam Gardner (8x XTERRA champion), Ironman-pro Craig Twigg and former sprint-king Rich Sumpter (British sprint-distance champion).

In 2012, Maguire beat several pre-race favorites to the biggest championship title of his career, when he ran away from the field in Groomsport, Ireland, to claim his national title. As well as the race title, Maguire and the rest of the elite field will be motivated by one of the biggest prize funds in the domestic calendar; a share of £10k, with the winner taking home £1.5k.

Rory Maguire said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to the Vachery Triathlon and racing against some of the best in Britain. I hope to have a great race and get a good result. The Vachery has a reputation of having a hilly course and hilly run so I think this race will play to my strengths.”

Race entries are still open and you can secure your place and enter the Vachery Triathlon Festival here: http://www.vacherytriathlon.co.uk/
