As training locations go it could be worse – TV chef Gordon Ramsay has been putting in the work for this year’s Kona in Santa Monica, California alongside his son Jack.

For this year’s Ironman World Championship, taking place on Hawaii’s Big Island on 11 October, Ramsay has again been awarded a wildcard to race in the 45-49 age-group category, where he’ll be looking to beat last year’s time of 14:04:48.

He’s already confirmed to race Ironman Wales next month, where the top athlete in his age-group completed the course in just over 10hrs (take a bow Tom Bishop).

Last year Ramsay lost over 12kg to get in shape for his first Ironman, saying that he looked like “a bloody piece of asparagus” by the time the big day came.
