Head coach resigns from BTF

Joel Filliol is to leave the British Triathlon Federation as their Head Coach

Joel Filliol is to leave the British Triathlon Federation as their Head Coach at the end of March 2011. His last effective day at work will be 18 March.

Filliol took up the position of Head Coach in March 2009, moving to the UK from Canada where he had been coaching elite Canadian triathletes at their National Performance Centre in Victoria.

Speaking of his decision to leave, Filliol said: “I have enjoyed my time as Head Coach working in the British Triathlon Performance Programme, however, whilst I feel that significant progress has been made, it is time for me to move back to my roots working with athletes directly as a personal coach.

“I am confident that the British triathletes, whom I have been fortunate enough to work with, will deliver performances to inspire the home crowd in London 2012.”

Heather Williams, Performance Director of British Triathlon said: “Clearly we are disappointed to lose Joel and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the Performance Programme. We wish him all the best for the future.

“We are fortunate however to have great athletes, a world class programme in place and a world class team of performance support staff who are totally committed to ensuring our athletes can deliver on the Olympic stage in London 2012.”
