Five chances to gain open-water race day experience this summer

The organisers of the Great Swim series – the biggest open-water swim series in Europe – have confirmed the dates for summer 2014. From a Scottish loch to a central London dock, triathletes can gain valuable mass participation open-water experience at five venues across the UK.

Distances in the series range from half-mile (800m) for triathletes wanting to test their race day speed and technique to 5km for long-distance and endurance racers.

The dates are:

Great North Swim, 13-15 June, Windermere, Lake District

Great East Swim, 21 June, Alton Water, Suffolk

Great Manchester Swim, 19 July, Salford Quays, Manchester

Great Scottish Swim, 23 August, Loch Lomond, Scotland

Great London Swim, 30 August, Millwall Dock, London

The Great North Swim attracts more than 10,000 swimmers to the shores of Windermere every year, with the organisers touting a relaxed and fun atmosphere that offers a great opportunity for triathletes to focus on form and quelling the open-water nerves before triathlon race day.
