Gordon Ramsay shares impressive swim stats in training for Ironman triathlon

Gordon Ramsay has shared his Garmin stats after a training swim, alongside a hint that he will be taking on an Ironman in 2026 – and he’s looking in good shape.

Celebrity chef and long-time triathlete Gordon Ramsay has shared that he is in training for an Ironman on Instagram stories, with the message “LFG… @ironmantri @iamspecialized”. In the post yesterday he shows a video of a stunning training pool in Toronto with his kit laid out, followed by a pic of his Garmin watch showing the session.

In the session Ramsay completed 2,000m in a time of 32:37.5 which equates to a pace of 1:40/100m. His average heart rate for the session was 128 bpm.

At that pace Ramsay would complete a 3.8km Ironman-distance swim in 1 hour 3 mins and 20 seconds (obviously allowing for open-water conditions and the difference made by wearing a wetsuit).

As yet it’s unclear which race Ramsay is training for but included in the photos was a pic of his swim cap from Ironman 70.3 Costa Navarino, where he clocked 6:44:38, which was an improvement of nearly 8 minutes off his previous IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg time.

His wife, Tana, and daughter, Tilly also raced, finishing in 6:10:07 and 6:00:40, respectively. Tilly secured fourth in the F18-24 category, buoyed by an impressive 31:31 swim, while Tana’s time saw her qualify for the World Championships.

The Ramsays are also regulars in the T100 circuit raising money for the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation which raises money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. At London T100 last year the family competed including Olympian Adam Peaty, who married Ramsay’s daughter Holly on Boxing Day 2025.

Staying in shape

In his recent Netflix series Being Gordon Ramsay, the chef is seen discussing the importance of fitness in his life and the difference it makes to coping with his gruelling schedule. He is also shown swimming in the sea near to the family’s home in Cornwall.

Interviewed for 220 Triathlon in 2013 when he appeared as the mag’s cover star, Ramsay credited tri as life saving in a very personal interview, and reveals how abuse from spectators at the 2001 London Marathon, and the early death of his father, spurred him to get fit.

“I remember coming past mile 22 and people shouting ‘hey Ramsay, you fat bastard, you’re not so hard now,’ and asking me if I’d lost my sports bra. I was 17-stone and when I got back it was dark. Aged 34, I needed to get my shit together. My father died of a heart attack at 53 and would still be living today had he taken care of himself.”

Gordon Ramsay has done a number of triathlons, often as part of fundraising for Great Ormond Street.

Ramsay has completed a number of triathlons and raced in the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2013, finishing in a time of 14 hours, 4 minutes and 48 seconds.
