A new study from the British Heart Foundation has found the Great British Public considers cyclists to be "cooler, more intelligent and more charitable" than the average person.

What's more, nearly a quarter of those quizzed said they would choose to go on a date with a cyclist over a selection of other sportspeople. More than one in four said they would want a cyclist on their pub quiz team, and a whopping 63 per cent of respondents said they don't mind lycra – or even that they like it.

The study was conducted with 600 people by insights firm Mindlab, with founder Dr David Lewis saying: "These results indicate we view cyclists as possessing attributes of which they can be proud."
