ITU Duathlon World Champ qualifier postponed after heavy snow

Due to the heavy snow conditions in north Nottinghamshire, organisers have unfortunately been forced to postpone the Clumber Park Classic Duathlon.

The event was set to offer qualification into the GB Age-Group team for the ITU Duathlon World Championships. With several centimetres of snow already having fallen and more forecast for the rest of the day and overnight, it would not have been possible to stage the race.

Iain Hamilton, said: “Athlete safety is our top priority, and despite having set up the event infrastructure already, we are not happy that the road conditions are good enough to go ahead. We are also conscious that many athletes are travelling considerable distances in order to take part.”

The event will now take place on the alternative date of 11 May and entries will automatically carry forward to this date. Those unable to make this date will be offered a credit for free entry into the 2014 Clumber Park Classic Duathlon. All competitors have been contacted this morning via text and email.

The rearranged date will incorporate qualification for the GB Age Group team for the ITU Duathlon World Championships.
