Challenge registration open

Barcelona is open for applications

Registration is now open for the 2010 editions of the Challenge Barcelona-Maresme triathlons, and organizers have announced dates for the half- and full-distance races.

The half-distance race, over a 1.2km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run, will be staged on 16 May 2010, while the full-distance event over double those distances is set for 3 October 2010.

Politicians representing the city of Calella and the other communities involved in the event reported being very satisfied with the events, which debuted this year. “The two Challenge events in May and October are a real gain for our coastal region”, says Josep Jo, head of the Maresme District Authority.

Because there has been a change in the company that organizes the event, the homepage has moved to www.challenge-barcelona.es. Application forms for both races are now available online. Jordi Gonzales will continue to serve as race organizer for both events, and the organizing company remains in close cooperation with the cities and communities involved.

The races, which drew thousands of athletes to the region in their inaugural year, begin with a plunge into the Mediterranean and finish with a spectacular run along the Maresme coastline.
