Avia Avi-Lite II

Avia wouldn’t be the first running brand to roll off my tongue, but I quickly felt at home in this shoe.

It’s lighter than it looks; gives an easy, soft landing on heel strike; and still has some guidance through to toe-off. The subtle support through the heel and midfoot would suit mild over-pronators or neutral runners, rather than those with great stability needs.

The softish ride means that heavier runners might find themselves flattening it too readily but, for a typically wiry distance runner, the feel is good. The fit is also satisfying; like the Brooks Axiom there’s ample width and, for the regular width foot, the laces can be adjusted enough to keep things nice and snug.
