Aldi Special Buys run kit

Looking for decent run kit at pocket-money prices? Better be quick, then...

Aldi running shoes, £14.99-£19.99

That smell of autumn in the air means two things: one, refuelling through the mediums of apple crumble and custard is suddenly acceptable again and two, it’s time to start layering up on those chilly early morning runs.

Coming to the rescue are cut-price grocery store Aldi, who once a year launch their bargainous Crane-branded running kit, with this year’s drop going on sale on 9th October.Aldi short sleeve compression shirt, £11.99

First thing you notice about the range is the price and with accessories like socks, hats and neckwarmers coming in at under £3 and with bigger items like base layers, shirts and sweatshirts at £9.99 there’s no arguing that you won’t break the bank. Even the priciest items in the range (jackets and premium run shoes) are only £19.99.

Aldi running jacket, £19.99

Price isn’t everything though – so what’s the quality like? Landing in the 220 office were the socks (three pack £3.99), neckwarmer and hat (£2.99 each), ladies’ undershirt (£5.99) and a short-sleeve compression shirt (£11.99).

Alsi seamless undershirt, £5.99

Smaller items like the socks and hat were comfy and we’d have no hesitation using them to layer up during long winter runs. The two shirts we tried were a pleasant surprise too – fabrics and construction were good and they lived up to the promises of breathability and comfort, with flatlocked seams and mesh inserts a nice touch.

The only downside of this range? It’s only available as stocks last, so if you’re tempted you’d better get your elbows out… www.aldi.co.uk
