Spencer Matthews to attempt 7 iron-distance triathlons on 7 continents in under four weeks
Project 7 will see Spencer Matthews raise funds for men’s suicide prevention charity James’ Place by attempting to complete seven full triathlons, on seven continents, in under four weeks.
The endurance athlete and entrepreneur Spencer Matthews has announced his latest World Record attempt, Project 7, in which he’ll attempt to complete seven full triathlons, on seven continents, in less than four weeks, while raising funds for men’s suicide prevention charity James’ Place.
Pushing the limits of what is possible for the human body and mind, Spencer aims to slash the current World Record of four years down to less than four weeks, beginning Oct. 15, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro.
Spencer previously achieved a World Record in 2024 for running 30 marathons in 30 days on sand. This achievement raised funds for Global’s Make Some Noise charity, which funds grassroots projects and works with small charities across the UK.

Travelling the globe
After the initial triathlon in Brazil, Spencer will attempt triathlons in Sacramento, California, London, Dubai, Perth, Cape Town, and Antarctica. The final leg in Antarctica will also provide the toughest conditions as Spencer will contend with the elements native to the continent. Across the challenge, Spencer will complete seven full triathlons (equivalent distance to seven Ironmans), each of which consist of a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km cycle, and a full marathon (42.4km) to end.
Throughout the challenge, Spencer will raise vital funds for James’ Place. Motivated by the ability to have a meaningful impact on male suicide prevention, Spencer will use his platform and his next physical challenge to bring attention to the issue and highlight the ways in which people can provide support via donations as well as seek help if they are struggling.

“We’re so grateful to Spencer for raising funds for James’ Place through Project 7,” says Ellen O’Donoghue, Chief Executive, James’ Place. Thousands of men die by suicide every year in the UK, and men account for three quarters of all deaths by suicide. We know with the right help and support, these deaths can be prevented. The money raised by Spencer will make a huge difference to James’ Place and allow us to continue to offer free, life-saving therapy to men in suicidal crisis.”
Spencer will be documenting his training in the lead up to the challenge, as well as sharing live updates from the challenge itself, on his Instagram (@spencermatthews). Donations can be made via the link in his bio and via the official Givestar page — Spencer Matthews — Project 7.
