News just in from the Tri Together race organisers about free, limited number training sessions in March, April and May…
If you’re thinking about taking part in a triathlon for the first time, getting started with your training might seem like a daunting prospect. Which discipline to start with first? How should you split your time in training? What do all the rules mean?!
To help beginners’ prepare for their first race, Tri Together, the award winning beginners’ triathlon series, will be holding FREE* training sessions in London and Lancaster in the run up to their events.
Triathlon coaches from local triathlon clubs COLT, Crystal Palace and Jet Stream Tri Clubs will be providing expert advice on all aspects from the swim to transition. In London, Swim for Tri will be on hand to give specialist swim advice in the pool.
The dates and times are as follows
London – Crystal Palace National Sports Centre
Saturday 30 March – 2-5pm
Saturday 11 May – 2-5pm
Lancaster – Salt Ayre Sports Centre
Sunday 14 April – 9.30am – 12.30pm
*Triathlon tasters are free to all but do require a deposit of £5. Payments will only be taken if you register and do not attend.
The format for the taster sessions are as follows:
- Meet and greet, explanation of the session and triathlon in general.
- Swim session – triathlon pool format and basic technical development / hints and tips.
- Outdoor bike / run / transitions session – exploring the course, how to set up transition, bike safety / operation check, gentle training
- Questions and Answer session including rules of triathlon
This is an excellent opportunity for beginners to receive some one-to-one advice and coaching and of course a chance to try out the swim, cycle and run route ahead of the event.
Thanks to Cycling Projects, there will also be an opportunity for participants to try out sports wheelchairs and alternative cycles such as recumbent trikes, hand cycles & tandem bicycles.
The taster sessions are open to all but places are limited so to register for a place at either taster session, please email email@example.com or call 020 3242 0239.
