Shimano cuts the cord for Di2 data

Wireless unit beams gear selection to bike computer

If you own Shimano's top-end Di2 electronic gear shifting system then this will interest you: a new wireless unit that beams relevant data to a compatible wireless cycle computer, letting riders quickly check their gear position and other data.

Sadly Shimano's new £69.99 unit won't let riders change gear wirelessly (yet), but it marks another step in that direction.

Compatible with Dura-Ace 9070, Ultegra 6870 Di2 and Ultegra 6770 E-tube road shifting systems, it plugs into the E-tube wiring system and is powered by the same Di2 battery that powers the shifting system.

It will only work with the new PRO SCIO ANT+ bike computer to begin with, although MIO and other computers are expected to come on board within the next few months.
