The Racetime-USN triathlon team has been launched! The line-up boasts a number of local triathletes including Ironman professional Craig Twigg; British, European and world duathlon champion Rich Horton; and Emily McLaughlin, who was third overall in the 2012 British Super Series.

"We're excited by the breadth of talent in the team from up-and-coming juniors to experienced Ironman campaigners, and look forward to the race season getting under way," said team manager Johnny Nicol.

Racetime's season has already begun with Twigg racing IM Melbourne and finishing 33rd. Twigg now travels to South Africa, where he is looking to better his seventh place at last year's Ironman South Africa. The same weekend also saw three of the team competing in the East Leake Triathlon where the team took their first win of the season: first for James Teagle, fifth for Fletcher Priestley and ninth for Richard Jeggo.

The team will be represented in domestic and international competition across all triathlon distances from the British Super Sprint series to Ironman events with a number of the team aiming for Kona qualification.

As well as Twigg, Horton and McLoughlin the squad includes Claire Shea- Simonds, Gayle Vickers, Lisa Picton, Richy Sumpter, James Nutt, Duncan Shea-Simonds, Richard Jeggo, Paul Lunn, Fletcher Priestly, David Robertson, Sam Elliott, Finley Thompson and James Teagle.

The team is backed by Leicestershire company Racetime Events, who stage junior and adult triathlon and multi-sport events across the county, accommodating first-time competitors through to elite triathletes. Racetime also offer coaching packages and run an open-water venue on the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire border.

Racetime Events are also currently in the throes of planning a Charity Ball. The event will be held on Saturday 5 October at the Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport and is £35 per person for a three-course meal and wine. The evening will include a prize raffle to raise funds for their charity partner Macmillan Cancer Research.
