British Triathlon is pleased to announce that an additional open elite men’s junior race will be incorporated into the British Triathlon U20s Festival on 31 August 2013.

The announcement follows unprecedented demand for entries within the current event structure that includes this seasons coveted British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships, the 2013 Eton Dorney ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup and an elite youth race.

The open junior and youth races will host the finale to the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series, whilst the ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup will maintain its status as a selection race for British junior athletes aiming to compete for the Great Britain Team at the ITU Junior Triathlon World Championships in London.

The British Triathlon U20s Festival will be one of the highlights of the triathlon calendar this season and will provide many of Britain’s talented youngsters the opportunity to compete at one of London 2012’s Olympic venues: Eton Dorney.

Ian Braid, British Triathlon’s Director for Major and National Events added: “We have seen a great deal of interest from athletes based in the UK and abroad looking to compete in the British Triathlon U20s Festival; the addition of the elite junior wave will enable us to welcome even more athletes to Eton Dorney. The event is full of opportunity for athletes, offering a world-class event experience, a thrilling finale to the British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series and of course the chance to be selected to represent Great Britain at the ITU World Championships.”

For any athletes wishing to compete in the elite youth or junior race, applications must be submitted to Mhairi Billington (mhairibillington@britishtriathlon.org) at British Triathlon.
