If you're based near Sussex and (like us) are a fan of castle-themed triathlons then this should be of interest – the new Arundel Castle Triathlon, being held on 20 July.

The Olympic-distance race starts with an out-and-back 1.5km swim in the River Arun, followed by a 40km cycle taking in the villages of Storrington, Amberley & Houghton and finishes with a new 10km run in two 5km laps around Swanbourne Lake and through the Norfolk Estate, before eventually passing the castle and finishing on a closed road section of the town’s square.

The organisers say they still have a small number of entries available at a reduced rate for this year’s race, and are planning to expand it into a major event for 2015. The race HQ, the transition and finish areas are all located in or close to the medieval castle’s grounds.
