Germany is set to host at least one new Ironman race next year, following the acquisition of Challenge Kraichgau and Rügen by WTC.

Ironman 70.3 Rügen will take place on an island located off Germany's north coast on 14 September, while a similar distance triathlon will take place in Kraichgau in the south of the country on 15 June 2014, although it's not yet clear if this will be Ironman-branded next year.

Other Ironman events in Germany next year will include the European Championship in Frankfurt on 6 July, a 70.3 race in Berlin on 20 July, and the 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden on 10 August.

Writing on the Challenge Kraichgau website (here), the current organisers promise that entry to the new Ironman 70.3 event will cost the same.

It will also offer participants the chance to qualify for the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Mont Treblant, Canada.
