A new Triathlon Club for children aged 8-14 years will be starting at Bingham Leisure Centre in Nottinghamshire on Friday 14 September.

The club will form part of Nottingham’s hugely successful Absolute Triathlon Club, which launched in 2009 and has subsequently won a raft of awards including the Nottingham Sports Club of the Year.

Absolute Triathlon already run a thriving junior club based at Southglade Leisure Centre in Nottingham and has responded to demand from local parents and children in Bingham to start a junior club there following the Brownlee’s Olympic success.

Head Coach Steve Lloyd commented “We’re really excited about working with Bingham Leisure Centre as the facilities, which include a running track, are perfect for triathlon and really safe for juniors. We are already at capacity in our Nottingham club and have been getting enquiries already about the new venue.”

The club will cater for all abilities with three different training squads; Foundation, Development and Performance which will involve beginners to the sport as well as really push those showing talent in the sport. Leading the coaching will be Steve Lloyd who is the current British Triathlon Federation Performance-Development Coach of the Year and is also the regional head coach for the BTF West Midlands Regional Academy.

Children can trial for the club during the year that they turn eight, however they need to be able to swim 100m without stopping and ride a bike. The new club runs from 5pm to 7.15pm every Friday evening at Bingham Leisure Centre throughout the year and the session covers all 3 disciplines.

Sessions cost around £5.25 with a discount for siblings. For further information please contact the Club Secretary Jayne Lloyd on 0115 9607912 or e-mail Jayne@absolutetriathlonclub.co.uk.
