Former F1 World Champion and current Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button is to host his first triathlon in aid of The Jenson Button Trust.

The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon in aid of Help for Heroes is an exciting new race from event organisers Human Race for 2012. To be staged at Luton Hoo in Bedfordshire on 19 August 2012, the race will allow 500 triathletes to compete against Button himself. There will also be a post-race party with prizes presented by Button, music and a barbeque.

Competitors will each take part in a 300m swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run all within the ground of Luton Hoo estate. The top 50 from each wave will then go into a final. The remaining participants from each race will go into a repechage - a 'wooden spoon' race-off final - meaning that everyone has the chance to race twice. The event is aimed at beginners all the way through to seasoned triathletes.

In addition to any funds raised by participants, profits from the race will be donated to Help for Heroes via te Jenson Button Trust. Participants will also be encouraged to fundraise for Help for Heroes, with special fundraising prizes being awarded for top fundraisers. Now in its third year, The Jenson Button Trust has raised vast sums of money for a number of charities.
