The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon, organised once again by Human Race, will allow 500 triathletes to race against the Formula 1 driver. This year’s event will once again be in support of Help for Heroes and takes place on 14 July at the Luton Hoo estate in Bedfordshire.

Jenson said: “I am very excited to announce the date of this year’s event will be 14th July. Entry will open on Friday 15 February at 9am but we only have 500 spots available. Therefore, for one week, places will only be available for people committing to raise a minimum of £250 for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.

From 9am on 22nd February, entry will then become available for people not able to commit to the fundraising, providing all of the places haven’t already gone!

If we can get all 500 people raising a minimum of £250 then the event will raise over £100,000, which would be a great achievement for such a worthwhile cause. So make sure you set a reminder to register and guarantee your place!”

The event was devised by the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver, a keen triathlete, as part of his training and to raise money for good causes. Last year’s inaugural event raised over £27,000 for Help for Heroes.

Competitors will each take part in a 300m lake swim, 9km bike and 2.5km run all within the grounds of the beautiful Luton Hoo estate. The top 50 from each wave will then go into a final consisting of 750m swim, 19km bike and 5km run.

The remaining participants from each wave will go into a repechage – a ‘wooden spoon’ race-off final – meaning that everyone has the chance to race twice. The distances are short but the format is challenging, making the event suitable for first-time and experienced triathletes. There will be a post-race party with prizes presented by Jenson, music and a barbeque.

The entry fee will be £120 and, in addition to any funds raised by participants, profits from the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon will be donated to Help for Heroes via The Jenson Button Trust.
