Launched in partnership with Bolton Council as part of their Year of Sport 2012, IronKids provides a fantastic opportunity to inspire our kids of the future, as well as being part an event that is seen as one of the ultimate tests of endurance.

IronKids aim is to encourage kids to lead an active, positive and healthy lifestyle and this event is very much targeted at local children in the area to come and have a go as well as those whose parents are competing in Ironman UK, so they too can feel part of the action. Staged by World Endurance UK, IronKids is one of the very few opportunities for young people to be part of a world class event.

IronKids will take place in and around Bolton's town centre from 8am to 11am on Saturday 21st July, the day before Ironman UK (swim, bike, run) event. The kids will get a flavour of Ironman, with each race comprising solely of a run over a distance allocated according to the age of the child; 3-5 years is 500m, 6-10 years is 1.5km and 11-15 years is 2.5km, with all races finishing under the Ironman gantry in Victoria square. Each competitor will receive a t-shirt to race in and an event medal on the finish line to celebrate their achievement.

Entries will close on 17 July, or earlier subject to maximum capacity of 1,000, so make sure your child doesn't miss out on this unique opportunity to be part of Ironman UK in this celebratory Olympic year. The entry fee is £2.20 per child. Parents or guardians can complete an online entry form at www.ironmanuk.com
