Ironman Maryland coming this September

WTC announce 12th M-Dot race in the US, with registration opening later this month

Ironman have announced their twelfth U.S. M-dot race, Ironman Maryland. The date is set for September 20, 2014, with registration opening on April 17.

The Choptank River will host the 3.8km swim, the 180km bike will traverse Dorchester County and head into the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and the 42.2km run will take place on flat country roads.

Maryland will have 30 age-group qualifying slots for the 2015 World Ironman Champs which will head held in Kona, Hawaii on October 10, 2015.

"We are delighted to add Ironman Maryland to our race lineup for 2014," said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for Ironman. "We have been looking to expand into the Mid-Atlantic as there is a thriving triathlon community in this region.
