Award-winning Kelling Heath Holiday Park, in North Norfolk, is running two triathlon mid-week breaks in 2010 that will provide the opportunity to combine a great family getaway with serious triathlon training.

Dates of the breaks are Monday 10 May to Friday 14 May, and from Monday 4 October to Friday 8 October. The triathlon season in the UK runs from April to September, so the May break is ideal for pre-season preparation, while October is an opportunity to review the season and plan winter training.

The breaks include multiple training sessions including technique development, swimming, cycling and running to suit all abilities, plus access to open water swimming, nutritional advice and a range of supplementary topics – all culminating in a leisure triathlon in the beautiful surroundings of Kelling Heath.

All coaching sessions are led by Simon Edwards, a Level 3 triathlon coach and Level 2 cycling coach with experience of training athletes to national level competition. Simon is head coach for the University of East Anglia Triathlon Club and head coach of the City of Norwich Triathlon Club. From 2006 to 2009 he managed a Sport England grant to develop triathlon within Norfolk. In 2007 and 2008 Simon managed the eastern region youth team to third place each year in the Inter Regional Triathlon Championships.

Ian Hacon, a keen triathlete and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Sky Leisure, Kelling Heath, said: “I have a strong personal interest in running and triathlons and I wanted to develop a way in which both serious and beginner triathletes could come to Kelling Heath in order to get the training and the advice that they need – and of course bring their families with them. There are so many activities and places to visit in and around Kelling, so it’s a great opportunity to enjoy a short break at the same time as training.

“Simon Edwards is a highly experienced coach and triathletes could not ask for a better person to supervise their training and give them the best possible advice.”

The Triathlon breaks are priced at £119 per pitch for Touring (Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur nights, standard pitches only) or from £307 for a luxury holiday home. (Based on one triathlete per family).
