First-timer wins South Manchester Triathlon

Newcomer Louisa Hodge wins sprint distance race

Over 500 triathletes enjoyed spring-like weather at the second South Manchester Triathlon last weekend (Sunday 22nd September), with first-timer Louisa Hodge winning the women's race.

Over the sprint distance course (400m swim/24.2km bike/5.6km run), Alex Foster was fastest in the water and held on to his lead to win the men's race in a time of 1:09:57. James Bailey claimed second place and Mark Clair third place.

Incredibly, Louisa Hodge took gold in her first-ever competitive triathlon with a time of 1:25:52, followed by Lucy Scott and Abi Cocksedge.
