The Big Cow Duathlon takes place this Sunday, 27 February in Emberton Park, Buckinghamshire and will see over 250 competitors racing to book their place in the GE Great Britain Age Group Team for the 2011 Limerick ETU Duathlon European Championships.

The Big Cow Duathlon is the first of three qualifiers for the 2011 Limerick ETU Duathlon European Championships, which is scheduled to take place on 17 April 2011. The second qualifier for the GE Great Britain Age Group Team takes place at Clumber Park on 5 March with the final opportunity at Dambuster Duathlon on 19 March.

Competitors will complete a 10km run, before commencing a 40km bike round the undulating Buckinghamshire countryside. Competitors’ legs will then face another challenging 5km run around Emberton Park.

Malcolm Westwood, British Triathlon Director for Age Group, added: “The Big Cow Duathlon will see age-group athletes embark on a challenging course as they aim to book their place in the prestigious GE Great Britain Age Group Team for the 2011 Limerick ETU Duathlon European Championships in April. Competition for places is strong, highlighting the continued growth of our modern and dynamic sport.

“Last year, the GE Great Britain Age Group Team secured 32 medals including 10 gold in last year’s event and we will be aiming to improve on that total in 2011, helping many more age group athletes achieve their personal triathlon challenges.“

The event is being organised by Big Cow Events, with more information available on www.big-cow.com.
