Entries are now open for The Bastion, a new Iron-distance race taking place at Hever Castle in Kent on 13 July 2014.

Marking the first time the Castle Triathlon Series has held a race at Hever Castle away from the September flagship event, The Bastion will be teamed with a swim festival, offering unique opportunities for children and adults to swim a range of distances.

Full maps of the new course are still to be published, although it is expected to include sections of the existing Gauntlet route deemed "tough but stunning", together with new course features.

Karl Alexander, this year's winner of related event The Gauntlet, said: “"With a unique swim comprising both lake and river followed by a brutally beautiful bike course and a run through the stunning castle grounds, this event comes with serious bragging rights."

Registration is now open at www.castletriathlonseries.co.uk, and until 1 December competitors can enjoy the early bird discount of 30% off the £320 plus VAT race entry fee.
